Deep Purple Photosets
Two new and exclusive photograph sets are now available for Deep Purple collectors. We have all the details.
DEEP PURPLE / HAMBURG 1970
By the end of 1970 Deep Purple were hitting the road with a vengeance to promote In Rock. They were also in demand by journalists across Europe. On December 2nd a reporter and photographer met the group at their hotel in Hamburg to talk about In Rock and photograph the band members before they left for the first show at Hamburg’s Festhalle that night, supported by Ashton, Gardener & Dyke.
This exclusive limited edition set of six photographs was taken at that meeting and is now available to collectors for the very first time.
The set includes five excellent individual photographs of the band members along with a rare group photograph and is supplied with a sheet giving details and further information. (order ref : Easy019)
DEEP PURPLE / HOUSTON 1976
Deep Purple Mk 4 undertook one of their longest ever American tours at the start of 1976, promoting the Come Taste The Band album (supported by Nazareth). On February 22nd a photographer took images of the group backstage as they relaxed and chatted with friends and reporters before the show.
This exclusive limited edition set of six photographs was taken in the dressing room before the show and is now available to collectors for the very first time.
The set includes four excellent individual photographs of the band members, plus Glenn with his roadie and a nice image of Coverdale and Paice chatting together and is supplied with a sheet giving details and further information.

ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHS
The images have been taken direct from the original negatives and are printed onto real photographic paper to ensure all the archival properties and high quality of traditional photo developing and processing. They should not be confused with the ink-jet or glicleé produced computer prints common to many suppliers.
The images are processed onto 10″ by 12″ photographic paper with a white border to make them suitable for framing. Original archive images like this fetch a lot today and this set represents great value for money.
The links take you through to the DTB Online Store. Introductory price per set is £69.99 in the UK which includes very secure postage, recorded delivery and packing. Price £74.99 outside UK includes airmail recorded delivery. Larger sized individual prints of specific images are available by special order only at present, please ask for details.
The photographs are for personal use only and no reproduction rights are included. The copyright remains with the negative owners. Permission for reproduction in any form must be secured in writing.

On the Houston 76 – was there full book planned at one point? If so any timelines for that?

Still on the go Ian, but then three other titles came along and jumped the queue. So will get this one wrapped up later in the year.

Ok, I might bite if I can convince myself these really are an investment. How limited is the ‘limited edition’?
September 21, 2012 at 9:21 am |
The value of investments can go up as well as down, your home is at risk if you do not keep up repayments, etc, etc. Seriously IG these are aimed at collectors who want them for what they are. They will be produced to order by the labs in small batches and total run is limited to 50 sets.

Good reply Simon! I promise I personally had nothing to do with this Housing Market Debacle! Maybe when things get better I will be able to grab these if they are still available? I guess you could always print more.

Rest assured Scott we all understand the shits in the financial markets are the real culprits here, doing well on the backs of people being dispossessed, forcing us all the bail them out when things get tough and then refusing to help economies get back on their feet.

I’ve never heard of a venue called Festhalle in Hamburg, indeed the only Festhalle known to me on German touring schedules is the Frankfurt Festhalle. Could this be a different venue after all?
September 19, 2012 at 9:36 am |
We have the telex inviting the photographer to the hotel in Hamburg on that date prior to the show. It’s possible we have the name of the venue wrong, or maybe it’s a big complex with more than one hall, but there are references to this on the web, from Jethro Tull to Stockhausen.

My God, is there a meet and greet included in the price?! I’ll Have to pass. I’m sure these are quite nice but hasn’t EVERYONE heard of the economic crisis? It is real here in the States; maybe the UK is not affected?

Who would want to meet and greet the photographer?! No they’re not cheap Scott, but against every comparable rock photo set out there, they are great value for money (you could probably get more than this reselling them on ebay!). And they’re real photos, not turned out on a desktop inkjet. Jimmy Page was asking fans for £7,000 for a set of photos recently, but then he had signed them… And yes we have heard about the recession here, kicked off by something to do with bundles of toxic debt from the American housing market as I recall?!
