Spicy essence

For those who are not into the idea of the Smoke On The Water beer, David Coverdale has come to your rescue by giving his band’s name to a vintner in return for a cut and a couple of cases.

The Whitesnake Zinfandel 2010 (that’s a red wine to you and me) is launched in America in July. Here at DTB towers it has to be said there has been a certain amount of ribaldry at what he might have used to crush the grapes, or suggestions on how the bottle might be used once the wine has been drunk which might be printed on the label (but then as I’m half way through another Tobias Smollett novel at the moment you might expect as much).

Actually the bottle is quite classy looking, but then it needs to be to persuade people to hand over $30. As my palate doesn’t extend much beyond a lime flavour milk shake (yes, they brought it back after it was banned a couple of years ago due to the toxic ingredients!), we’ll await reviews from the experts. For now, as David Coverdale says, “It’s a bodacious, cheeky little wine, filled to the brim with the spicy essence of sexy, slippery snakeyness.”

As Jilly Goolden (celebrity TV wine guzzler and kangaroo penis eater) might say, “I’m getting sweaty stage clothes, leather trousers, car polish, middle aged groupies…”

spin it and whoever it points to is out of the band...
