Purple Confirm

The current line-up of Deep Purple have been officially confirmed to appear at the Jon Lord Memorial Concert in April next year. It’s been a fairly open secret that they were set to do so, but news was held back until the UK shows were over. Exactly what they will be doing set wise we don’t know, but orchestral arrangements of a few Deep Purple songs are in hand which sounds interesting.

Would be amazing to have Blackmore do a tune, but can’t see it somehow.

Speaking of Jon Lord, it was the album “Purple Passages” that got me hooked on DP all those years ago. It was the first DP album I ever bought. I had never heard a Hammond ever played the way Jon did. I was hooked!

It’s funny Les, nobody in Europe could see any point in that set, yet in North America it clearly filled a gap.

Despite Ritchie’s absence, I’ll fly to London to attend the show. Shame about him. Nevertheless there’s already an all star confirmed line-up to pay tribute to the great SORELY MISSED MAESTRO!

I would listen to Slaves and Masters any day rather then the sub stuff substandard stuff they have passed off as DP post-Blackmore.

Coverdale and Hughes confirmed they will be there?

  6. Les Hedger Says:

I hope the show is recorded for those of us who can’t be there. The profits from sales could go to charity like the 2011/2012 shows. (These are excellent by the way). Great to see Paice play drums on “Since you’ve been Gone” and Lord/Wakeman do a great jam together!!

  7. robert Says:

Maybe The Man In Black himself will show up!

  8. Les Hedger Says:

Hopefully Ritchie will also be there. I thought “Carry On Jon” was a very good tribute from his last album!

Please don’t buy tickets on a wish-list of who might appear! Buy them in the spirit of the evening and for who is already booked.

Yes it was a great gig made all the better as the band seemed to be having as good a time as the audience.
Don Airey even smiled a whole once!

    What about Boots and Covernote?

  11. Rob Corich Says:

Brilliant, after last nights great gig at the Roundhouse my ears might just have had time to recover!
