Cake all round

Two more birthday boys this past week, namely Ian Gillan (19th) and Glenn Hughes (21st). Steve Morse had a big one at the end of July too, turning 60. At which point some sod points out that he’s only two months older than me, so I’ll hastily gloss over that one!  Big Ian and Ritchie (seen below chuckling)hit the next milestone in 2015 when they’ll both turn 70. Maybe the BBC will have them both on the Great British Bake Off to celebrate?

If he makes one more rock album, won’t everyone slag it off, like they have with every other one since Rainbow Rising? Just a thought.

  2. Roy Davies Says:

Ah the advancing years…….. back in the day we took drugs to be hip, now we take drugs for our hip!!

For those who haven’t seen Blackers the past years, give yourself that chance! The man is a big smile, chatting and having fun with both band members and the audience. The Bitch in Black is long gone. Besides, he plays like a dream. Even if I’d love to see and hear him rock again, I can easily live with what he’s doing at the moment. He’s still a couple of classes above the rest.

Age concerns – when I play Burn I’m 14 all over again and that’s my solution to creeping up on us old age. And don’t it make a change to see the man in black smiling, my wife says he’s got one hell of a nice smile – second only to Tom Cruise she says!

  5. George Mallios Says:

Errr…is that Ritchie actually smiling or have you photoshopped that in?

  6. Drdp Says:

It appears TMIB is obviously happier now than at any other time of his life. Good on him.

He’ll be making his Black(more) forest gateau: mix three teaspoons of mandrake root witha pinch of (highway) star anise, put the mixture into the fire, but don’t let it burn.

  8. Gerardo B. Reynaldo Says:

Wow, he really is showing his teeth, and it’s not to bite with! Hope to see Ritchie this way, not always the oh-so-serious, pissed-off, dour, saturnine guitarist….

  9. Les Hedger Says:

Great Picture! Now if he would only make one more Rock Album.

  10. Bernard Maasdijk Says:

I believe Roger Glover also will be celebrating his 70th birthday in 2015.

  11. Mark Says:

Ahem…think you’ll find the most important birthday on 19th was my very modest self…twenty years to the day younger than that bloke who used to be able to shout for a living (form a queue ladies…)…
