Deep Purple may keep being “overlooked” by the rock and roll hall of fame (they don’t deserve capital letters!) but Modern Drummer magazine have just named Ian Paice as their Hall of Fame / Rock Drummer of The Year 2015, as voted for by their readers. Good to see his name in there amongst younger players too. He joins some amazing drummers on the Hall of Fame list including two of his own heroes, Buddy Rich and Gene Krupa. it is criminal in the rock world that DP have not been in the Rock Hall of Fame Long Ago! When they inducted the “queen of Disco” a few years ago, I realized the morons on this committee, were not taking their meds properly or self medicating far too much. Congrats to Ian Paice. He truly is one of Rocks best drummers.

Great news. Anyone that can play “You Fool No One” and “Space Truckin” back to back, as Ian did, has to be in the HOF!! I recently listened to DP’s first album, Shades of Deep Purple, and have to say he started off his DP Career with a bang. His drumming was incredible even back then!!!

I can only echo everyone’s comments, I’ve never heard a drummer like him in over 40 years of attending rock concerts. Still recall the amazing drum clinic he did in a Sheffield pub function room in the far off days.
