Hi DP Hi

butlins minehead ian paice

Ian Paice is doing another of his occasional shows with tribute band Purpendicular later this month. It is part of the Giants of Rock season being staged at Butlin’s holiday camp in Minehead from Jan 27-30th. The full roster is quite impressive, with Steve Hackett, Jethro Tull, Barclay James Harvest etc. Other Purple People include Bernie Marsden and Bernie Tormé. Over 18s only, but admission does include access to Waterworld as well, so take your cossies with you! Thanks to Tim Summers for the news. Simon adds ‘I was born nearby – there’s a plaque up!  Quite fancy this but it’s one heck of a drive from here, esp. if the weather sets in…’

We had a fab holiday there in December 2011. The number of interesting (to me/us) acts to play there is growing all the time. Marsden, Paicey, Mick Ralphs, UFO… Minehead, you’re the rock’n’roll capital of the UK!

Bernie Marsden and Bernie Torme’ are not Purple people, one was in Whitesnake the other in Gillan.
As Benie Marsden’s T shirt used to say,..
No I wasn’t in DEEP fucking PURPLE
