Glenn Hughes Deep Purple show Australia 2017

Glenn Hughes is doing his own Deep Purple tribute act later this year in Australia, and will do a full set of Purple songs. Dates announced so far are: September 20: State Theatre, Sydney; 24; Concert Hall, Perth; 29: Hamer Hall, Melbourne; October 1: Qpac, Brisbane. The band are fairly familiar to Glenn followers – Jeff Kollman on guitar, Lachy Doley keyboards, Pontus Engborg drums, all of whom have worked with Glenn on tour in the past. Thanks to Lutz Reinert for the news.

Going Total here Addicted to ADDICTION the brilliant re-issue of Glenn’s heaviest and most intense album! I already had four versions….. everything from Japanese specials to South American live… but keep each one as different and some very interesting photos and notes therein. There can be no doubt GH is the winner post-DP original era. So many great albums listenable memorable and many awe inspiring moments. Speaking of DP check out his acoustic version of You Keep on Moving very memorable. Well done Glenn!

I’ve not had time to cover these re-reissues, assuming most people have got the album who wanted it, but there is a slew of Glenn’s back-catalogue being made available once more if you are missing any.

Hope he plays Wild Dogs! Best song on Last Concert in Japan, and Mk.4 played it in the Antipodes. Can definitely recommend Jeff Kollman – he played on Mogg/Way’s Chocolate Box, a UFO album in all but name, and a classic.

Any chance of Glen doing this set list in the UK. His performance at Reading in February was mind blowing.

I would imagine if the offer was OK he might, but Glenn does like to be seen as doing new stuff over here rather than the tribute act.

Three shows in New Zealand; Sep 26, 27 + Oct 3. Cheers, Rasmus

  5. Kosh Says:

Let’s hope he brings this to the UK – he literally blows all the other Purple family bands away these days… he’s an absolute legend!

  6. Paul Orchard Says:

The only one who can still sing. Hope it will come to the UK or be filmed.
