1975
16 October 1975 • Butterfly Ball Concert
This one-off concert in aid of charity was staged at the Royal Albert Hall in London, to help promote the album. It featured a large number of guest musicians from the album as well as other stars (including Vincent Price as narrator and Twiggy). From Deep Purple were Roger Glover, Jon Lord, David Coverdale, Glenn Hughes and Ian Gillan – making his first live appearance since quitting Deep Purple two years before. The show was recorded and filmed, but has never been officially released (some pirate editions are about). The film was later edited for release in cinemas.
A special programme was sold on the night, shown here. Photographs and a poster from the concert are on the deep-purple.net site.

Here’s a rare picture sleeve single for the Love Is All track from France, where the track was a big hit and remains popular.
