With regards to opening for Aerosmith, Purple have and have always had substandard management, sigh. From 73′ to 75′ they were the biggest band in the world [a world which included The Stones, Zep, Floyd in or near their prime!] and yet they co-headlined California Jam with E.L.P. [Whom I love]. Really, E.L.P? The other 3 bands mentioned would never co-headline with anyone but Purple did. The Jam was America’s intro to Mark III… Wait a tic, someone accepted Ian Gillan’s resignation and allowed Glover to be fired? Funny Peter Grant would not have. He would have told the band to take a break and filed Ian’s note under trash bin. After the very successful ‘Strangers’ reunion they release the less prosperous ‘House’ and Vavoom they take the middle spot on a Areosmith/Purple/G’N’R bill in America which they should not have done. Good management cultivates for the client, a ‘We Headline Or We Don’t Play’ attitude, Period! That’s why The Stones never played under Zep, or Floyd under Wings, etc. There are countless places around the globe that will pay todays Purple to come play without having to open for anyone. If only Mr. Grant [R.I.P.] handled Purple instead of H.E.C….if only.

Interestingly one of the reviews from the US tour I just put on the site shows them doing a show with no opener at all – just straight on and in there.

  2. Rob Beck Says:

What’s happened to the great Rock & Roll Hall of Fame debate? I was just getting started with Gillan and the cardboard cut out that is Steve Morse!

  3. Rick Freeman Says:

I will see the last two shows. Hope they play “Woman from Tokyo” as a encore, again. Nice to see a much needed chance in that portion of the show, but It really does not matter what they play once that take the stage.

  4. Gabriel O. Gonzalez Says:

    Buenos Aires, Argentina?… 2015?

  5. Dan Macaulay Says:

DP should never have to support any other rock band. They have been a classic rock band headliner …4 plus decades! Must be Steven Tylers ego getting the best of him..again!

  6. Christophe COLUSSA Says:

Someone was asked in Paris 2013 for tour programme. I heard them answer : “there is nothing for this tour”. Not seen in Luxembourg 2014 either at their “the mobile merchandising unit”.

  7. geronimokiwi Says:

deep purple is bigger in france than aerosmith no problem…i m french

  8. JBreis Says:

No one who has seen them already has mentioned anything about the merchandise at the shows. Do they have a new tour programme for this year?

  9. Steve Says:

I just scored tix for Purple at the OC Fair August 6th. The damn ticket brokers already have the choice seats but I’m still in a pretty good location. I might try to make the Harrahs show near San Diego the next week as well.

  10. Steve Says:

Aerosmith is bigger than DP in France? I understand here in America but France? Don’t get me wrong, I love Aerosmith, right up there with DP for me but Purple should be headlining in France.

  11. Drdp Says:

Pretty piss-poor US tour. 12 in the States & 2 in Canada.
No dates in NEW England? You wouldn’t mind but Thames Talent & Bruce Payne are IN Connecticut! And it sounds like a reprise of the Orchestra Tour at some gigs. WTF? NO proper touring or attention to the wonderful NOW WHAT ?!
Very sad “STATES” of affairs (pun intended).

  12. Grannypants Says:

What about Vancouver BC? Come on guys.

  13. Gary Poronovich Says:

I`m so there at Casa Rama!! Saw the Boys there the last time, great stuff!!..

  14. Harry Heathman III Says:

Yes! And even close to Seattle!!!!

  15. Matthew Says:

Not only are they touring the US but they’re coming to my home state of Mississippi? Be still my heart!

  16. Roy Davies Says:

Hellfest for me then, I’ve heard rave reviews about the festival, and who can pass up a chance to see one of the greatest UK classic rock bands ever just one more time?……oh and Deep Purple too!!

  17. colussa Says:

    Sorry,
    1 April 2014

  18. Grannypants Says:

They should redo the 1972 Budokan show in its entirety (while of course recording it) as a 42nd anniversary special..

  19. Rich Franz Says:

So how many more years until DP plays the US???

    • Harry Heathman III Says:

I hope it’s soon. I’m afraid not too many more years of touring left and the band retires for good.

  20. Keith Livingstone Says:

    …supporting Aerosmith!!!!

    Surely you jest???

  21. colussa Says:

    and we can add
    1 – 2014 Luxembourg / Rockhal
